Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Enfermero para hogar de cuidado prolongado (Nurse for Long-Term Care Home) to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to residents in a long-term care environment, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. Your expertise will support residents with diverse needs, including those requiring specialized attention such as memory care, hospice, and complex medical management. Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality patient care by performing thorough assessments, vital signs monitoring, and physical examinations tailored to each resident’s needs.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and medication management following HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
- Assist with complex procedures such as catheterization, suturing, wound care, ostomy care, and ventilator management.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement personalized care plans aligned with residents’ health goals and MDS (Minimum Data Set) requirements.
- Manage emergency situations effectively by providing acute pain management, airway management, triage, and critical care interventions within a long-term care setting.
- Maintain meticulous medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems like Cerner or Athenahealth to ensure compliance with healthcare standards.
- Educate residents and their families on health coaching, medication administration, nutrition, and disease management strategies such as infectious disease care or dementia/Alzheimer’s care.
Qualifications
- Valid nursing license with current registration; experience in long-term care or nursing home environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in advanced nursing skills including IV insertion, phlebotomy, sterile technique, and aseptic procedures.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, memory impairments, or behavioral health challenges such as dementia or trauma medicine.
- Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical terminology for accurate documentation and billing processes.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations with calmness and professionalism; prior ICU or emergency room experience is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and engaging with residents’ families.
- Familiarity with healthcare software systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, or similar EMR/EHR platforms.
