The Center for Children & Families is seeking a dynamic and effective Engagement and Assessment Therapist to join our Mississippi Team. The Engagement and Assessment Therapist will focus on building partnerships with local businesses, churches, and organizations to raise awareness and drive engagement with the mission of The Center for Children & Families. The primary responsibility of this role is to engage community stakeholders and increase awareness of services provided by The Center for Children and Families. This role will also work to expand the agency’s outreach and partnership initiatives, driving engagement, increasing referrals, and completing initial clinical assessments to support the agency’s mission of promoting safe, healthy environments for children. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the mission, skilled in community engagement, possess strong clinical assessment skills, and have a strong ability to build community partnerships that support the agency’s goals.
Minimum Job Requirements:
The Engagement and Assessment Specialist should possess the following:
  • Master's degree in counseling, marriage and family therapy, or social work
  • Licensure or ability to pursue licensure preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in marketing, communications, or public relations preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance, some travel required
The ideal candidate should possess the following characteristics and skills:
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage and inspire community stakeholders, referral sources, families, and children.
  • High-level ability to complete systematic evaluation of an individual's behaviors, strengths, and needs through face-to-face assessment and documentation review
  • Proficiency in public speaking with an ability to present confidently to various audiences
  • Excellent writing skills with a strong ability to create persuasive, clear, and engaging content for diverse audiences
  • Successful experience with outreach strategies and building relationships with community organizations, businesses, churches, and local leaders
  • Proven ability to organize events, manage projects/campaigns, and work interdependently
  • Creative capacity in basic content creation and graphic design, including social media and videos
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including collaboration, adaptability, and high personal ownership
  • Strong project management competencies and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage timelines
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and AI tools preferred
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Direct Client Care & Assessment
    • Complete 8 client assessments weekly, face-to-face and in a variety of locations, including where the client lives, works, attends school, and/or socializes
    • Complete all assessments in accordance with program, agency, and state requirements
    • Understand all intake documents, treatment programs offered within Therapeutic Services, each program’s service criteria, and intake and program policies and procedures
    • Engage families well and maintain awareness and sensitivity to their cultural and socioeconomic characteristics while integrating this into assessment
    • Maintain all confidential information
  • Administration and Paperwork
    • Independently schedule assessments with families
    • Generate and maintain case notes, treatment plans, and any required Medicaid documentation
    • Document work using electronic health record
    • Complete all paperwork in a timely manner and in accordance with program, agency, and state requirements
    • Be available by phone to clients, coworkers, and community partners on a consistent basis
    • Communicate well, both verbally and in writing
  • Marketing & Community Development
    • Maintain communication with community agencies and resource providers within assigned region and advocate for clients with them as needed
    • Identify and cultivate funding and sponsorship opportunities with partner organizations
    • Support legislative advocacy initiatives through relationship management and participation in community forums
    • Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless referral coordination and program awareness
    • Make 8 marketing or referral development contacts weekly
    • Deliver high-quality public presentations, workshops, and seminars (both in person and virtually) to highlight available services, provide educational content, and showcase how community members might engage with The Center
    • Tailor presentations to diverse audiences
    • Maintain messaging consistency across all engagement activities and ensure all presentations and educational materials reflect The Center’s voice, brand, and mission
    • Enter outreach and referral data in EHR
    • Maintain accurate records of engagement activity and outcomes
    • Pull reports, track trends, and provide data summaries for management and board review
  • Universal Responsibilities
    • Complete all necessary training and attend conferences, seminars, and meetings as requested
    • Attend weekly clinical supervision with clinical coordinator to discuss cases
    • Engage in team staffing as requested
    • Assist supervisor or team as needed
    • Other duties as assigned, including support of marketing department objectives
