Job Objective
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance (QA) professional to ensure the highest standards of product and process quality in our machine shop operations. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring and verifying machining processes and special processes including heat treatment, chemical surface treatment, and coating applications in compliance with applicable standards and customer requirements.
- Primary responsibilities-
- Inspection and Quality Control:
- Perform in-process and final inspections of machined components using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, CMM, etc.).
- Verify dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and tolerances as per engineering drawings and specifications.
- Special Process Oversight:
- Monitor and validate heat treatment processes (annealing, quenching, tempering, etc.) to ensure correct hardness, microstructure, and metallurgical properties.
- Oversee chemical surface treatment operations (anodizing, phosphating, passivation, plating) ensuring proper pre-treatment, process parameters, and post-treatment outcomes.
- Witness and validate coating or painting processes when required.
- Documentation and Records:
- Maintain detailed inspection records, process approvals, and non-conformance reports.
- Prepare and maintain First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) and inspection checklists.
- Maintain and update control plans, FMEA, and inspection checklists.
- Review and approve certificates of conformance (CoC), material test reports (MTRs), and special process certifications from vendors.
- Problem Solving and Corrective Actions:
- Investigate quality issues and root causes; lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) efforts.
- Handling of Customer complaints and resolutions
- Work closely with production, engineering, and suppliers to resolve quality concerns and improve processes.
- Audits and Compliance:
- Assist in internal and external audits (ISO 9001, AS9100, NADCAP if applicable).
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, customer-specific requirements, and internal procedures.
- Supplier Quality:
- Support incoming inspection of raw materials and outsourced components.
- Evaluate and qualify suppliers for special processes.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in quality improvement projects (Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to enhance product quality and reduce rework.
- Train and support shop floor personnel in quality practices and requirements.
- Specific Skills:
- Proficient in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Skilled in reading and interpreting technical drawings
- Familiar with statistical tools (SPC, MSA, etc.)
- Detail knowledge of instruments, metrology and calibration requirement
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Hands-on knowledge of CMM programming or digital inspection tools.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Internal Auditor Training (ISO/AS)
