The Karns Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of full-time Engineer/EMT with fire apparatus driving experience.

Job Description:

This position is intended for a qualified candidate through lateral entry. Duties include:

• Driving/ Operating Fire Apparatus (must have fire apparatus driving experience)
• Responding to emergency/non‐emergency incidents
• Interfacing with the community
• Pre‐fire planning
• Continuous training (fire, rescue, EMS)
• Report writing
• Equipment maintenance and upkeep
• Other duties as assigned by the Fire Chief

The employee must be motivated, able to effectively function in a combination setting, and work well within a chain of command structure. This position requires working a nine day rotating schedule: 24 hours on - 24 hours off - 24 hours on - 24 hours off - 24 hours on - 96 hours off.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age
• Be a United States citizen by the date of appointment
• Possess IFSAC/ Pro‐Board or State of Tennessee Fire Fighter 2
• Possess IFSAC/ Pro-Board or State of Tennessee PDO or FAO
• Possess a valid NREMT or State of Tennessee EMT license
• Successfully pass a criminal background check and drug test
• Successfully complete a physical fitness evaluation and medical examination
• Successfully pass an oral interview
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• Possess a valid State of Tennessee driver’s license (within 10 days of hire)
