We are looking for an Engineer II to support our customers and help CPower maintain its role as a leader in the energy management industry.

The primary responsibility of an Engineer II is identifying and quantifying demand management opportunities utilizing building, process, or generator load data for a variety of customers across all industry verticals. This includes supporting Sales to acquire and retain new customers and increase or maintain load at existing customer sites, while supporting downstream delivery operations. An Engineer II is expected to work independently with minimal supervision and be able to provide consistent feedback on progress and developments. In addition, the Engineer II is required to provide consistent updates on project status and efforts to leadership and customers.

This is a remote position with a preference for candidates who are within the Baltimore, MD area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills and have the ability to communicate complex technical energy-use concepts to non-technical and non-financial people.
  • Conduct preliminary discussions with customers and, if required, complete field audits of customer facilities.
  • Gather, document, and communicate all pertinent field information.
  • Complete preliminary engineering analyses based on initial information gathered and detailed analyses using additional sources of data, such as meter data; strong proficiency using Excel is required.
  • Develop proposed engineering recommendations.
  • Knowledge of ISO and Utility Demand Response programs and the ability to implement solutions against the market rules to capture additional revenue.
  • Assess and communicate additional opportunities to increase revenues.
  • Ensure that customer technical solutions are developed and built to allow customers to participate in the ISO and Utility based markets and are satisfied with the services that CPower provides.
  • Engage shared technical team installing meters, infrastructure, and support systems.
  • Lead specialized task efforts as required (i.e. Generation, Metering, ADR, etc.).
  • Evaluate the financial viability of any planned projects including federal and state incentives.
  • Manage projects to ensure they meet specifications and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate external estimates from engineering personnel, vendors, and contractors.
  • Provide pricing parameters for proposals and contracts.
  • Develop and define project risk assessment plans.
  • Work with Project Management delivery team to develop Project Final Cost estimates, Project deliverables, and Project Schedule and Construction implementation plans.
  • Pursue continuous learning, specifically of new technologies supporting efficient energy utilization through training, independent reading, meeting with suppliers and attending seminars.
  • Prepare and provide reports to direct supervisor.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform related tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with at least 2 years of relevant Energy experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office –Excel, Outlook, Word, and internal systems and engineering software).
  • Relevant experience with facility and / or process electrical and mechanical systems is required.
