Position: Engineer II
Location: Tallahassee, FL. Hybrid position (majority of work performed at office; telecommuting remainder of time within commuting distance of office permitted)
Duties:
Independently perform traffic analysis for the various engineering studies including Traffic Impact Studies, Concurrency Studies, Signal Warrant analyses, and Intersection Control Evaluations (10%).
- Research standards, code requirements, agency guidelines and preferences necessary for traffic engineering projects (10%).
- Conduct technical reviews and provide written comments on Traffic Impact Studies prepared by other consulting firms under continuing service contracts with local agencies (5%)
- Support in developing Interchange Modification Report that comprehensively documents the potential safety, operational, and engineering impacts resulting from the proposed interchange and arterial modifications (10%).
- Prepare Traffic Impact Study reports (5%)
- Draft technical memorandums (5%)
- Supervise traffic analysis tasks, coordinating with peers, junior analysts, and graphic technicians to ensure project quality, timely delivery, and budget compliance (15%).
- Conduct a transportation engineering review of development plans, evaluating traffic flow, parking, and queue management, and proposing alternative site layouts as needed (5%).
- Develop engineering plans for traffic signal installation or modification, ensuring compliance with relevant local agency and Department of Transportation design standards (10%).
- Attend technical meetings with clients, the project manager, and reviewing agencies; engaging in presenting and discussing analysis approaches and results (5%).
- Prepare client-focused project proposals outlining scope, budget, and schedule (5%)
- Teach and mentor entry-level staff (5%)
- Manage small projects (less than $50,000 in total fee) (5%)
- Regularly communicate directly with clients, reviewing agencies, and external team members throughout the project lifecycle (5%).
Salary from: $114,026.00 / year
Education: Master’s degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, or related field (foreign equivalent accepted), and
Experience: 3 years’ post-bachelor’s progressive experience as a Traffic Engineering Associate or Transportation Analyst
Skills/Requirements:
- Must hold Florida Professional Engineering (PE) License
3 years’ experience:
- Using national and state guides including Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, AASHTO A Policy on Geometric Design of Highway and Streets, Highway Capacity Manual, ITE’s Trip Generation Manual, and FDOT Project Traffic Forecasting Handbook.
- With Synchro-Sim Traffic, HCS traffic analysis software packages and Cube transportation modeling software.
- Analyzing intersection and roadway capacity and preparing traffic impact studies.
- Preparing signal warrant and intersection control evaluation studies to determine the need for traffic signal installations.
- Developing future traffic projections following agency-specific methodologies and procedures.
2 years’ experience:
- With VISTRO traffic analysis software package, SIDRA and AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Preparing Interchange Modification Reports (IMR) and Interchange Operational Analysis Reports (IOAR).
- Conducting technical reviews and provide written comments on Traffic Impact Studies prepared by other consulting firms.
- Developing engineering plans for traffic signal design installation.
