Organisation: Graviss Foods Private Limited (Baskin Robbins, India)

Location: Kesurdi MIDC, Phase II, Satara, Pune.

Position Title: Instrumentation / Automation Engineer (Executive)

Department: Maintenance / Engineering

Location: Factory

Reporting To: Maintenance Manager / Engineering Head

Experience: 4–5 years

Industry Preference: Food / Dairy / Pharma Manufacturing

CTC Range: INR 5–7 LPA

Objective:

To design, implement, operate, and maintain factory-level automation and control systems to ensure safe, efficient, consistent, and compliant production operations in an ice cream and food manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Automation & Control Systems Execution

  • Design, develop, and modify automated control systems in line with approved plant requirements.
  • Prepare and update electrical schematics, P&IDs, control philosophies, and layouts using CAD and related tools.
  • Ensure automation systems align with production capacity, quality standards, and safety requirements.

2. PLC, SCADA & HMI Management

  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens or equivalent).
  • Develop, modify, and maintain HMI and SCADA systems for plant operations.
  • Ensure system reliability, data accuracy, and minimal downtime.

3. Installation, Commissioning & Validation

  • Lead and support installation, testing, and commissioning of new machines, lines, and automation upgrades.
  • Validate system performance against approved specifications and production requirements.
  • Coordinate with OEMs, vendors, and internal stakeholders during commissioning activities.

4. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support for automation, electrical, and control-related breakdowns.
  • Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance plans for automation systems.
  • Minimise production losses due to automation-related failures.

5. Process Improvement & Optimisation

  • Analyse process and automation data to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Implement automation enhancements to improve yield, throughput, consistency, and product quality.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives driven by production and quality teams.

6. Compliance, Safety & Food Standards

  • Ensure all automation and control systems comply with food safety, GMP, and statutory requirements (HACCP, FSSAI, etc.).
  • Implement and maintain safety interlocks, SIS, and machine safety standards.
  • Support internal and external audits related to automation, safety, and compliance.

7. Documentation & Capability Building

  • Maintain accurate documentation including drawings, SOPs, manuals, change logs, and backups.
  • Train operators and maintenance teams on automation systems, basic troubleshooting, and safe operation.
  • Ensure knowledge transfer and system continuity at the factory level.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Automation system uptime and breakdown reduction
  • Compliance with safety, food, and GMP standards
  • Successful commissioning and stabilisation of new systems
  • Reduction in process inefficiencies and downtime
  • Documentation accuracy and audit readiness

Qualification & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical / Automation / Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Min. 4–5 years in industrial automation within manufacturing environments
  • Prior exposure to food, dairy, pharma, or FMCG manufacturing preferred

Technical Skills Required

  • PLC programming (Ladder Logic, Structured Text)
  • SCADA & HMI development and maintenance
  • Industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus)
  • Hands-on experience with sensors, actuators, VFDs, and servo systems
  • Working knowledge of data handling, diagnostics, and system backups

Work Environment & Conditions

  • Factory shop-floor–based role within an operational ice cream and food manufacturing facility.
  • Requires regular presence on the production floor and interaction with running machinery and automation systems.
  • Strict adherence to hygiene, GMP, food safety, and EHS protocols is mandatory at all times.
  • Role may require working in shifts and extended hours, including weekends or holidays, to support 24×7 operations, commissioning activities, or critical breakdowns.
  • Occasional coordination with OEMs, vendors, and cross-functional teams within the factory premises.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹700,000.00 per year
