JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY:
The Engineer – Operational Safety, Quality and Risk Management plays a key role in executing the safety and quality management processes essential to maintaining Sanad MRO’s operational approvals. This includes conducting risk assessments, maintaining the risk register, monitoring risk levels, and supporting mitigation activities. The role supports investigations into safety and quality events, ensuring root causes and contributing factors, including those related to human factors, are accurately identified. This includes performing independent surveillance activities and ensuring alignment with applicable regulations, internal processes, and procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
1.Safety and Quality Management:
•Perform operational tasks related to the Safety Management System (SMS), including the review, development, and maintenance of safety procedures and processes.
•Ensure alignment with aviation regulations and industry best practices.
•Support communication with authorities and customers regarding SMS implementation and investigation outcomes.
2.Continuous Improvement :
•Contribute to LEAN and Six Sigma projects aimed at improving safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
•Assist in identifying process improvement opportunities and support their execution using structured methodologies.
3.Risk Management:
•Support the identification, assessment, and monitoring of operational risks.
•Maintain and update the risk register to ensure ongoing visibility of risk exposure.
•Support risk mitigation efforts, ensuring timely completion of assigned actions.
•Participate in risk-related meetings, workshops, and validation sessions to guide decision-making and approvals.
4.Investigation and Problem Solving:
•Support investigations of safety and quality events to ensure timely execution and thorough analysis.
•Assist in defining containment measures, root causes, and corrective/preventive actions, including follow-up to monitor outcomes.

•Conduct shop-floor observations, review visual records, and engage stakeholders to gather evidence.
•Contribute to preparation of investigation reports and lessons learned for internal dissemination and continuous improvement.
5.Conduct risk-based Surveillance :
•Perform risk-based surveillance monitoring activities as per approved procedures to assess risk levels and operational discipline.
•Verify the effectiveness of investigation recommendations and hazard controls, and coordinate with departments to resolve them effectively.
•Provide practical recommendations for improvement and contribute to regular shop-floor inspections.
6.Other Duties as Assigned:
•Carry out additional responsibilities or tasks as required by the Manager – Operational Quality and Safety.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
Minimum Qualifications:(Education/Certification/Licensure/Professional Membership)
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aviation Management, Quality and Safety, or a related field; or an ICAO type II Aircraft Maintenance license.
• A minimum of 10 years of solid , relevant experience may substitute for the required degree.
Minimum Experience:
• 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in quality and safety management within an aviation or MRO environment, including:
o Experience in managing findings in an MRO environment, ideally engine shops, with emphasis on human factors.
o Experience in applying and maintaining quality management systems and driving process improvements.
o Experience using structured problem-solving tools.
o Experience in utilizing various tools and methodologies effectively for continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Job Specific Competencies:
1. Aviation Regulations and Compliance: Advanced knowledge of aviation regulations applicable to MRO operations, including quality requirements, Safety Management Systems (SMS), and human factors. Ensures full compliance with GCAA, EASA, FAA, CAAC, and UKCAA requirements.
2. Safety and Quality Management Systems (SMS/QMS): Solid understanding and application of SMS and QMS frameworks to uphold high operational and regulatory standards.
3. Investigation and Root Cause Analysis: Proficient in investigation techniques applicable to the maintenance environment, including interview methods, evidence review, and structured root cause analysis. Supports timely and accurate resolution of safety and quality incidents.
4. Risk Management and Mitigation: Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate operational risks. Supports the maintenance of risk registers and completion of mitigation actions.
5. Continuous Improvement and LEAN Methodologies: Strong knowledge of LEAN methodology and other structured improvement tools. Capable of leading or contributing to projects that improve process efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance safety and quality outcomes.
6.Problem Solving: Skilled in applying structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 5 Whys, fishbone analysis) to identify root causes and drive preventive and corrective actions across technical and operational areas.

7. Visual Management: Foundational knowledge of visual management techniques to support monitoring, communication, and decision-making in quality and safety operations.
8. Data Analysis and Microsoft 365 Tools: Foundational skills in data analysis, visualization, and reporting using Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, etc.) for effective performance monitoring and reporting.
9. Technical and Product Knowledge: Foundational understanding of aviation product technology and MRO processes, particularly in engine shops, to support investigations and continuous improvement efforts.
10. Human Factors and Behavioral Safety: Knowledge of human factors and behavioral safety principles, with the ability to assess behavior-related risks and contribute to a safety-focused culture.
11. Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex information, engage stakeholders at all levels, and facilitate cooperation during investigations, audits, and improvement initiatives.
12. Analytical Thinking and Innovation: Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to assess safety and quality challenges, draw insights, recommend effective solutions, and foster innovation in a fast-evolving operational environment.
