Overview

Duties
- Operate heavy equipment including dozers, loaders, excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and bucket operation machinery to access and service septic systems efficiently.
- Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on septic system components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and rigging techniques.
- Execute electrical work such as fiber splicing, low voltage wiring, high voltage connections, electrical experience tasks, and cabling to support system functionality.
- Engage in construction site activities including climbing structures safely, rigging heavy loads, and precise excavations aligned with engineering specifications.
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot system issues, perform routine inspections, and document findings accurately.
- Maintain safety standards by adhering to protocols for heavy equipment operation, electrical work, and construction site safety procedures.
Experience
- Proven experience operating heavy machinery such as dozers, loaders, excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and bucket operation equipment in construction or utility environments.
- Familiarity with utility locating techniques and cable installation or repair processes.
- Hands-on experience with welding, rigging, electrical wiring, low voltage/high voltage systems, and cabling projects.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of septic system components or similar infrastructure systems.
- Construction site experience demonstrating safety awareness and ability to work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively while maintaining safety standards.
- Physical capability for climbing structures and working in various weather conditions; comfort with heavy equipment operation is essential. - Professional Inspections (Semi-Annual/Annual): Unlike conventional gravity systems, engineered systems often need inspection at least twice a year by a certified technician to check pressurized driplines, blowers, and pumps.
- Pump & Alarm Service: Maintenance includes checking the pump's amperage draw, verifying that floats are calibrated, and ensuring the electrical alarm system operates correctly.
- Filters and Cleaning: Effluent filters and screens must be cleaned annually, including the spin filters in the drip headworks if applicable.
- System Controls: Regularly check the control panel and check for proper operation of blowers or aerators in aerobic treatment units (ATU).
- Drainfield Management: Keep heavy machinery and vehicles off the drainfield to prevent soil compaction and pipe breakage. Ensure no woody trees or deep-rooted plants are grown on the mound or bed.
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
