Engineering Cost Estimator- Salary- 1st shift- 2 positions open
The Engineering Cost Estimator is responsible for providing detailed estimates on a variety of projects by preparing engineering estimates, production quotes, tooling quotes, and other cost estimating activities, and by developing and implementing competitive pricing strategies to increase the success of procuring profitable work.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB TASKS:
- Responsible for partnering with Sales, Production, Purchasing, Engineering, and other departments to quote customer jobs in the most efficient and cost-effective methods relative to AFTN’s manufacturing capabilities.
- Review job specifications and drawings to develop labor, material, and other non-labor cost estimates.

Estimate the need for machine setup and run times, tooling, programming, and outside processes, identifying nonrecurring expenses, and enter the cost into the system to establish pricing.

Develop pricing models, analyze historical cost data, and research cost alternatives to provide competitive quotes.

Review material, labor requirements, and all other information sources to decide best practices to produce parts.

Ensure that accurate and complete estimates of projects are prepared on time.

Create and update job and purchasing routings for distribution to respective departments.

Maintain the company ERP system and organize files pertaining to quotes and information on pricing and suppliers.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the role and level of responsibility of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of various raw materials, hardware, tooling, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing of products.

Must be able to follow directions and communicate clearly with other departments.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and establish effective work priorities.

Previous experience with Microsoft package & MRP experience required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
-
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); required.

BS in Engineering; preferred.

Three to five years of related experience in a manufacturing environment with welding, assembly, and machining knowledge preferred.

Experience in reading, interpreting, and working from blueprints required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to comply with the safety requirements of a manufacturing environment.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, and move about the facility.

Ability to lift 50 pounds independently.
WORK CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment.
