About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled API Middleware Engineer to join our API Middleware & Architecture team. Our mission is to design and deliver API-first data products that serve as the foundation for next-generation applications across the company.
In this role, you will build and optimize middleware services, develop API data products, and contribute to customer-facing applications using JavaScript/TypeScript and Next.js. You will also help evolve our API platform, ensuring secure, scalable, and resilient integrations.
This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of backend architecture, API design, and developer experience, with a passion for building systems that power data-driven products.

Responsibilities
  • API Product Development: Design and implement APIs and middleware services that expose core data assets as reliable, reusable data products.
  • Middleware & Architecture: Contribute to the design and evolution of our API architecture, balancing scalability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Frontend Integration: Develop and maintain front-end integrations and tooling in Next.js to ensure seamless developer and customer experiences.
  • Standards & Best Practices: Champion best practices for API design, RESTful conventions, security, versioning, and observability.
  • Collaboration: Partner with data, product, and engineering teams to identify requirements, translate them into API solutions, and ensure adoption of middleware services.
  • Operational Excellence: Implement metrics, logging, and monitoring for all APIs to ensure high reliability and fault tolerance.
Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency with JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks such as Next.js.
  • Deep understanding of REST API design principles (GraphQL knowledge a plus).
  • Familiarity with cloud environments and containerized deployments.
  • Knowledge of authentication & authorization patterns (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.
Nice to Have
  • Hands-on experience with API gateways (ApigeeX preferred, but Kong, MuleSoft, or similar acceptable).
  • Experience developing backend services and APIs in Go.
  • Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger for contract-first API development.
  • Background in data productization or building APIs for large-scale data systems.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (Terraform preferred).
Why Join Us?
  • Be part of a team shaping the future of API-first data products.
  • Work across a modern stack—Next.js, cloud, API middleware—while driving architectural decisions.
  • Collaborate with talented engineers who value clean design, performance, and scalability.
  • Opportunity to impact both developer experience and business-critical applications.
We thank all applicants in advance for their interest in this position, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
