About the Role

The Engineering Director role entails spearheading strategic direction for serval MCO global

Engineering teams, emphasizing alignment with Product Delivery objectives and long-term vision

through the establishment and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs). Leadership and

mentorship of senior engineering managers are crucial for effective team management and result-

driven outcomes. Developing and implementing KPIs to scale engineering operations ensures

continuous improvement and technical excellence. Collaboration with department leaders ensures

alignment with business goals, while serving as a decision-maker in technical discussions

supports sustainable solutions. Being personally attuned to industry trends and sharing valuable

insights with senior leadership are deeply impactful in fuelling innovation and preserving our

competitive edge.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for multiple engineering teams, ensuring alignment with MCO’s objectives and long-term vision.
  • Lead and mentor a team of senior engineering managers, empowering them to effectively manage their respective teams and drive results.
  • Define and implement processes and methodologies to scale engineering operations and improve overall efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Drive innovation and technical excellence across the organization, fostering a culture of continuous learning and experimentation.
  • Collaborate closely with other department leaders, including product management, project management office, customer success, technology, and business development, to

ensure engineering efforts are aligned with overall business goals.

  • Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for engineering performance

and productivity, regularly assessing and reporting on progress towards targets.

  • Serve as a key decision-maker in technical architecture and design discussions,

providing guidance and insights to ensure scalable and robust solutions.

  • Act as a champion for diversity, equity, and inclusion within the engineering organiza-

tion, promoting a culture of belonging and respect.

  • Drive recruitment and talent acquisition efforts to attract top engineering talent, partner-

ing with HR to develop effective hiring strategies.

  • Represent the engineering organization in cross-functional meetings and strategic

planning sessions, advocating for the needs and priorities of the engineering teams.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential im-

pact on our products and processes, and making recommendations for adoption.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing insights and recommenda-

tions on technology strategy, resource allocation, and risk management.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration and cross-team communication, breaking down silos

and encouraging knowledge sharing and cooperation.

  • Lead by example in promoting a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous

improvement, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in all aspects of engineering

operations.

Experiences and Skills

  • 15+ years of experience (including up to 7 years in management) product development
  • 3+ years of second line management experience
  • Strong java full stack engineering experience in a product development environment
  • Make decisive contributions in technical architecture discussions to guide decision-

making.

  • Hands-on expertise in reviewing architecture & design, system design, modularization,

and microservice architectures

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues.
  • Can do attitude who can adapt and prioritize effectively.
  • A strong willingness to learn and a growth mindset.
  • Excellent communication and servant leadership skills
  • Possess knowledge and experience of agile development methodology. (Scrum, AGILE

and KANBAN)

Desirable Capabilities –

  • Experience in a product driven SAAS or financial services company is a plus
  • Architect experience is a plus
  • Executive experience is a plus
  • Start up experience is a plus
