We are currently seeking Engineering Interns to join our team in Batesville, IN.

This internship is designed to provide meaningful hands-on experience across multiple engineering disciplines within our Supply Chain and Operations network. All candidates will participate in a panel interview to assess strengths, interests, and technical alignment. Based on this evaluation, interns will be placed in the Procurement and Value Engineering, Continuous Improvement, or Quality Manufacturing Engineering internship track where they are the best overall fit. This ensures each intern is positioned for success and aligned with work that supports both their skillset and long-term development goals.

Your Role at Batesville:

As an Engineering Intern, you will support critical engineering, quality, and process-improvement initiatives across multiple facilities. Depending on your placement, you may lead cost-reduction and sourcing projects, drive continuous improvement efforts or support quality engineering activities that enhance product and process performance. Interns contribute to safety, quality, cost, and delivery improvements while gaining hands-on exposure to real manufacturing and supply chain operations.

What You’ll Do:

Work will vary based on track placement, but responsibilities may include:

  • Managing or supporting project activities such as strategic sourcing, product redesign, or process improvement initiatives
  • Collecting and analyzing data to evaluate processes, establish baselines, or identify improvement opportunities
  • Participating in Kaizen events, Daily Management meetings, and Gemba walks
  • Supporting Change Management activities including documentation, trials, testing, and recommendations
  • Executing Lean, Continuous Improvement, or Quality Engineering tools to support process stability and product reliability
  • Reading and developing part prints, assisting with testing, and validating product or process changes
  • Supporting quality activities such as root cause analysis, audits, defect investigation, documentation, and corrective action
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams such as engineering, production, sourcing, operations, and logistics
  • Assisting in workplace organization, ergonomic improvements, or visual management enhancements
  • Other duties as assigned based on business needs and internship track

What You’ll Bring:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Technology, Supply Chain, or a related field; minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and balance multiple priorities • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage across functional groups • Passion for learning and continuous improvement
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Interest in manufacturing, supply chain, operations, or engineering systems

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with 3D CAD software
  • Exposure to Lean or Continuous Improvement concepts
  • Familiarity with quality tools or data analysis (e.g., SQL, Macros, CpK, 5-Why, Fishbone)
  • ASQ entry-level certifications (for Quality-focused placements)
