Position Title: Engineering Intern

Compensation: $5,000 upon successful completion of the program
About the Role:
The Engineering Intern will support local government infrastructure and public works projects through research, design, and fieldwork. This internship provides hands-on experience in civil engineering, transportation planning, environmental projects, and municipal services, helping interns develop practical skills in engineering within a government setting.
Responsibilities May Include*:

Assist in the design, review, and analysis of engineering plans for public infrastructure projects, such as stormwater systems and utilities

Conduct site visits and inspections to assess construction progress and compliance with regulations

Support data collection and analysis for transportation, environmental, and development projects

Assist in preparing technical reports, maps, and engineering drawings using software such as AutoCAD, GIS, or Civil 3D

Review local policies, zoning codes, and construction standards related to engineering projects
-
Conduct research on sustainable engineering practices and infrastructure improvements
-
Coordinate with engineers, planners, contractors, and government officials on public works initiatives

Perform administrative and technical tasks, including document preparation, cost estimation, and database management
- Exact position responsibilities will be determined based upon current County administration needs and intern academic requirements.
Qualifications:

Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

Basic knowledge of engineering principles, design, and construction management

Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, GIS, or MATLAB is a plus

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional setting

Interest in public infrastructure, municipal services, and government operations
