Position Summary

The Engineering Manager is a technical leader responsible for managing cross-functional project teams across product development, design engineering, testing, and documentation. This role oversees the execution of engineering projects to ensure high-quality, on-time, and cost-effective delivery. The Engineering Manager drives continuous improvement, mentors engineering talent, ensures compliance with customer and regulatory standards, and supports the organization through strong technical leadership. This position is designed as a succession role and serves as a lead-in to the VP of Engineering .

Key Responsibilities

· Lead, prioritize, assign, and review the work of Design Engineers and CAD Designers to ensure timely and accurate project execution.

· Deliver products that meet targets for quality, performance, cost, and customer satisfaction.

· Guide teams through company procedures, PDP process requirements, and established engineering workflows.

· Conduct technical design reviews and verify product performance against design requirements.

· Develop new test procedures and support intellectual property reviews and documentation.

· Stimulate creative thinking and problem-solving to address complex engineering challenges.

· Mentor team members in product development, customer engagement, processes, and company culture.

· Establish and execute training plans and annual performance reviews to support career development and continuous improvement.

· Ensure that all product designs comply with regulatory, customer, and internal engineering standards.

· Coordinate with other company operating locations to maintain consistent engineering practices.

· Interface directly with customers and suppliers on engineering-related topics.

· Lead regular engineering team meetings to maintain communication across Engineering, Quality, Sales, and Operations.

· Monitor industry trends and new technologies; encourage team members to stay technically current.

· Maintain team performance metrics and support phase review deliverables for each project.

· Support additional responsibilities as requested by the VP of Engineering.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.

· 5–10 years of progressive engineering leadership experience.

· Proficient user of SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.

· Strong PC skills (MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

· Experience in ISO9000 / IATF 16949 manufacturing environments.

· Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, and 8D problem solving.

· Familiarity with ECE and FMVSS automotive safety regulations preferred.

· Understanding of high- and low-volume manufacturing processes, including stamping, injection molding, machining, and corrosion protection.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

· Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
