POSITION OVERVIEW: Responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance of the entire hotel's property, interior and exterior, and the development, execution, and follow-through of the hotel work order system. This individual manages and oversees the department in accordance with standards and guidelines established by the hotels.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Hotel Maintenance:

  • Ensure all required repairs and maintenance are performed on all hotel equipment and assets as scheduled or requested by guests, housekeeping, and /or management. Such duties could consist of HVAC, plumbing, electrical repairs, and furniture replacement and/or repair etc.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on hotel equipment and assets per set schedule.
  • Perform daily walk-through and record all meter readings and boiler temperature.
  • Develop and maintain effective work orders and other paperwork systems.

Directing Employees:

  • Train, supervise, coach and counsel Engineering employees.
  • Schedule team members, taking into consideration expected guest arrivals and departures, occupancy levels, guest service needs and budgetary guidelines.
  • Work with the General Manager and Director of Operations to maintain and facilitate effective training programs.
  • Ensure that Engineering employees are properly uniformed and are following all hotel procedures.
  • Ensure that all operations of Engineering equipment and procedures are understood and performed, safely in accordance with company guidelines and government regulations.
  • Assume responsibility for the implementation of policies and procedures set by the hotel.

Communication:

  • Provide written details of work performed on Work Order forms and other documents.
  • Record all maintenance request work performed in the log program and return request to proper location.
  • Assemble weekly and Period Summary Maintenance Reports and identify and track trends in order to anticipate future work projects and costs.
  • Provide feedback to management on specific maintenance and repair needs.
  • Administer Safety Training programs.

Miscellaneous:

  • Know hotel emergency procedures and where all emergency shut-offs are located.
  • Assist hotel Guests when necessary, in case of an emergency.
  • Facilitates all Emergency response Training and Safety Training for all hotel employees.
  • Budget, plan, schedule, coordinate and supervise projects in accordance with hospitality guidelines.
  • Perform special projects assigned a time set for each project.
  • Support Hospitality’s environmental commitments by having the knowledge, skills and values to be a leader in the global goal of "greening" the hospitality industry. Watch for safety hazards.
  • Perform other duties as directed, developed or assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be ready and willing to complete the job as necessary. Be an example to all employees. Educate all staff on health and safety procedures and policies.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION

Education and Licensing:

  • High school or equivalent education required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) required. HVAC certification.

Skills and Experience:

  • Two to four years’ experience in previous hotel engineering management is required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

Grooming:

  • All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per The Ranch standards.

Competencies:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must possess basic computational ability. Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Ability to supervise subordinate team members, including, but not limited to, assignment of duties, evaluating service and taking disciplinary action when necessary. Ability to solve problems and make rational decisions.
  • Knowledge of The Ranch operations, its services, and facilities.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations, including, but not limited to the following statutes and their comparable state and local laws (where applicable): Title VII, ADEA, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, FLSA, ADA, OSHA, FMLA, and NLRA.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Most work tasks are performed indoors/outdoors. Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by Resort environmental systems while indoors. Must be able to withstand outdoor conditions including, extreme heat, cold, rain, winds, etc.
  • Position requires walking and giving direction most of the working day; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach different outlets and other departments of the Resort on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs on a regular and continuing basis. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other associates.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception. Ability to spend extended lengths of time viewing a computer screen.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as needed.

OTHER

Regular attendance is essential to the successful performance of this position. Irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Due to the fluctuation in business levels in the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of The Ranch. In addition, attendance is required at all scheduled training sessions and meetings.

Upon employment, all team members are required to fully comply with company rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of The Ranch’s facilities. Team members who violate The Ranch rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
