Engineering Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead their development team and drive the architectural vision for their eCommerce platforms. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, ensuring systems are robust, scalable, and aligned with business goals.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team including Full Stack Developers, Shopify Leads, Systems Integration Engineers, and eCommerce Analysts.
• Conduct performance reviews, address personnel issues, and foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
• Oversee hiring, onboarding, and professional development for technical staff.

Systems Architecture & Technical Ownership

• Translate business requirements into scalable system architectures.
• Design, document, and communicate architectural decisions for new and existing systems.
• Establish coding standards, system maintenance, and launch protocols.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with finance, operations, customer care, and other teams in an omni-channel sales and logistics environment.
• Partner with Product Owners to prioritize requirements and deliver technical solutions.
• Facilitate effective communication between technical teams and business units.

Process & Quality Management

• Oversee development processes, including code reviews, release management, and sprint planning.
• Ensure systems meet best practices and industry standards.
• Promote continuous improvement in workflow efficiency, system reliability, and team productivity.

Technical Expertise

• Architect and oversee integrations with Shopify, ERP systems, and third-party tools.
• Evaluate new technologies for compatibility and strategic fit.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system integration issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience managing technical teams, preferably in an eCommerce environment.
• Strong experience with APIs and system integration (RESTful services, webhooks, middleware).
• Hands-on experience integrating platforms such as Shopify, ERP, and Data Warehouses.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases for data modeling and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with SDLC and DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated testing frameworks.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in personnel management, performance reviews, and team development.
