Summary
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to ensure product quality, operational efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. This position oversees the Manufacturing Engineering team, collaborates cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Sales, and drives process optimization initiatives. The role is responsible for supporting ISO 9001 compliance, developing manufacturing solutions, designing engineering drawings and blueprints, and implementing technologies that improve productivity, safety, and overall operational performance.
Responsibilities

Lead and manage the Manufacturing Engineering team, providing direction, coaching, performance management, and professional development opportunities.

Establish annual departmental objectives and conduct performance reviews to support employee growth and accountability.

Develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and equipment to increase efficiency, quality, and throughput.

Analyze production workflows and facility layouts to optimize space utilization, material flow, and operational effectiveness.

Design and implement lean manufacturing initiatives that reduce waste, improve productivity, and support continuous improvement objectives.

Develop detailed engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation for manufactured components, tooling, fixtures, assemblies, and production equipment using AutoCAD.

Create, review, and revise part drawings to ensure compliance with customer specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and quality requirements.

Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Customers to support product design improvements, manufacturability reviews, engineering changes, and new product introductions.

Maintain engineering drawing control, revision management, and documentation in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements.

Work closely with Quality Assurance and Production teams to investigate root causes, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurring production issues.

Evaluate emerging manufacturing technologies, automation solutions, and equipment investments to improve operational performance and reduce costs.

Interface with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support technical requirements, process improvements, and project execution.

Interpret and execute company policies, engineering standards, and operational procedures affecting manufacturing processes and personnel.

Support and maintain ISO 9001 certification by ensuring engineering processes comply with quality management system requirements.

Oversee the creation, revision, and maintenance of engineering and quality documentation, including work instructions, process procedures, quality plans, and manufacturing specifications.

Develop and deliver training programs that enhance employee knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality standards, and customer requirements.

Promote the use of Statistical Process Control (SPC), data collection, and process analytics to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

Lead capital improvement projects from concept through implementation, including equipment selection, validation, installation, and commissioning.

Stay informed on industry best practices, manufacturing technologies, and engineering advancements to support long-term business growth and competitiveness.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field required.

Minimum five (5) years of manufacturing engineering experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.

Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.

Demonstrated experience creating, modifying, and maintaining detailed engineering drawings, blueprints, and manufacturing documentation is required.

Strong ability to interpret and develop technical drawings, engineering specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Experience designing tooling, fixtures, production aids, machine modifications, and custom components for manufacturing environments.

Strong understanding of machining processes, manufacturing tolerances, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, process improvement methodologies, and continuous improvement tools.

Strong understanding of ISO 9001 quality management systems, auditing requirements, and documentation control.

Experience with precision machining, semiconductor manufacturing, quartz fabrication, ceramics, or related advanced manufacturing environments preferred.

Ability to conceptualize and develop functional mechanical designs and manufacturing solutions.
