Engineering Manager - Lean Manufacturing Focus

Duties

  • Lead the development and execution of lean manufacturing strategies to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.
  • Oversee project scheduling for process improvements, equipment upgrades, and new product launches, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on production issues, utilizing data-driven approaches to identify underlying problems and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including design, quality assurance, and production—to develop schematics, process flow diagrams, and technical documentation using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and CAD tools.
  • Manage the installation, calibration, programming, and maintenance of industrial equipment such as CNC machines, robotics systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), vision inspection systems, and welding apparatus.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by applying industrial engineering techniques to optimize assembly lines, fabrication processes, tooling setups, and automation systems.
  • Mentor engineers and technicians in mechanical knowledge areas including CAD design, CAM programming, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), CNC programming, and schematic interpretation.
  • Support factory experience enhancements by implementing factory layout improvements using CAD tools to maximize space utilization and workflow efficiency.
  • Foster a safety-first environment by developing protocols for robotics integration, fabrication safety measures, and industrial equipment operation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field; advanced degrees or certifications in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma are preferred.
  • Proven experience managing manufacturing or production engineering teams within a high-volume manufacturing facility.
  • Extensive knowledge of lean manufacturing principles such as value stream mapping, 5S methodology, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Strong background in process engineering with hands-on experience in plastics injection molding or similar manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with CAD software including AutoCAD, SolidWorks.
  • Skilled in robotics programming, CNC programming (including G-code), schematics development, PLC programming, vision inspection systems and industrial equipment maintenance.
  • Familiarity with factory automation technologies such as CNC machines, robotics integration (welding robots), fabrication tools and tooling design.
  • Excellent project scheduling skills coupled with the ability to perform root cause analysis efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Mechanical knowledge of assembly lines, industrial equipment operation or fabrication techniques; familiarity with ISO 9001 standards is a plus.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate teams towards operational excellence while fostering a culture of safety and innovation. Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
