Engineering Manager - Upstream

Upstream chemical manufacturing facility in Louisiana undergoing a major operational transformation. They are seeking an Engineering Manager to serve as the site’s technical authority and a primary mentor for their growing technical organization.

This is a true upstream process environment (high-volume continuous flow), not a downstream or formulations-based site. The facility is currently elevating its standards, transitioning to a rigorous PSM framework , and modernizing its infrastructure. They need a seasoned leader with 15+ years of experience in Refining, Petrochemical, or Heavy Continuous-Process Manufacturing.

The Mission:

  • Organizational Leadership: Directly manage a team of 20+ professionals across Plant Engineering, Maintenance, and Capital Projects. You will be the architect of their professional development and accountability.
  • Safety Evolution: Lead the transition from RMP-regulated to a full PSM environment (HazOps, MOC, Mechanical Integrity, and PSSRs).
  • Strategic Growth: Drive sound project management discipline for capital execution and implement a reliability-centered maintenance strategy.

The Profile:

  • Education: BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Background: Deep roots in upstream manufacturing . (Note: Experience in formulations, polymers, or coatings is not a fit for this specific process).
  • DNA: A "builder" mindset—someone who prefers establishing systems and technical rigor over just maintaining a legacy program.
  • Location: On-site in Louisiana; relocation is provided, but Gulf Coast industrial experience is a must.

This is a rare chance to define the technical culture of a site with full backing from leadership. If you are a high-level leader ready to be a catalyst for a site’s evolution, I’d love to share more.
