Summary/Objective
The Engineering Tech 2 supports the design and development of Lancer products with hands-on prototyping and testing. This role works closely with project teams to ensure prototype and evaluation work is effective and efficient and that designs meet overall project goals.

Key Performance Indicators
. Contribute to the achievement of project milestones and deadlines.

. Support continuous improvement initiates within the engineering department.

. Assist in maintaining high standards of product quality and reliability.

. Contribute to the overall success of engineering projects and initiatives.

Essential Functions
. Assist Engineering Project Teams in planning and executing prototype builds, including:

o Ordering and organizing materials.

o Fabricating, assembling and Testing prototypes.

o Evaluating prototypes for manufacturability, performance, and organizing the feedback to the Engineering Project Teams

. Operate and maintain prototyping equipment which may include 3D Printers, SLA machines, CNC metal cutting, manual mills/lathes, 3D Scanners, Borescopes, automated test fixtures and a variety of power and hand tools.

. Develop and fabricate fixtures, tooling, and other equipment to improve department prototyping and testing processes.

. Support the overall department in maintaining cleanliness, organizing and dispositioning of inventory, following and promoting safe practices in the prototyping area.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
. Computer Skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

o Log Data, create reports

. Familiarity with manufacturing practices

. Proficiency in multiple fabrication skills:
o Refrigeration – Certified Technician a plus

o Sheet Metal Forming (including welding and grinding)

o Wood Fabrication

o Metal Machining / CNC

o 3D Printing / Additive manufacturing

o General Manufacturing Assembly

o Electronic Controls / Automation / Instrumentation / Programming (Python, Labview, PLC, others)

. The ability to create simple block diagrams for mechanical and electrical applications

. The ability to read engineering drawings and use measuring tools

. The ability to operate a forklift and become certified is required, previous experience a plus

. The ability to self-manage is required:
o Organize time to best support multiple initiatives with quickly changing priority

o Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

. Some 3D CAD modeling experience is a plus, SolidWorks preferred.

. Ability to analyze ERP information and generate BOMs is preferred

. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing Best Practices (5S, TPM) is a plus

. Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills in a team environment.

Education & Experience
. Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent (2-Year Technical Degree preferred).

. Minimum of 6 years of experience in manufacturing or laboratory environment.

. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.

Work Environment
. Combination Office and Industrial setting

. Safe work environment with minimal exposure to hazards.

. Standard office hours with occasional overtime or weekend work for project deadlines.

Physical Demands
The role requires the ability to regularly sit, stand, and walk. The individual may often be required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Good vision is necessary for computer work and detailed design tasks, and dexterity is needed for typing and handling engineering materials. Additionally, there may be occasional movement and setup of testing equipment and prototypes.
