Duties

• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating best practices in literacy education and instructional design
• Foster a positive classroom environment that promotes active learning, respect, and collaboration among students
• Utilize learning technology tools to enhance instruction and engage students in creative writing, journalism, and research projects
• Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and project-based evaluations; provide timely feedback
• Mentor students individually or in small groups to improve writing skills, reading comprehension, and critical analysis
• Incorporate advanced style guides such as AP style and Chicago Manual of Style into classroom activities and student assignments
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, literacy initiatives, and school-wide programs to support diverse learning needs

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field; master’s degree preferred
• Proven classroom experience teaching English Language Arts at the middle or high school level
• Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment strategies
• Familiarity with AP style, copy editing techniques, proofreading skills, and journalistic writing practices
• Experience with learning technology platforms and digital resources for literacy education
• Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—and organizational abilities
• Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering an inclusive environment for all learners
• Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and educational research methods
• Prior experience working with students with special education needs or in private school settings is advantageous

Pay: $52,855.86 per year
