Position Summary:
The English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher, under the general supervision of the school principal, supports student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by implementing district-approved curriculum and providing targeted language instruction. The position addresses the individual educational and language needs of students, documents teaching practices and student progress, and creates a flexible, safe, and supportive learning environment. The ELL Teacher communicates effectively with students, parents/guardians, and administrators regarding student progress, expectations, and instructional goals.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Designs and delivers curriculum aligned with district goals, objectives, and instructional standards.

Establishes and maintains a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes individualized and small-group instruction.

Develops and implements lesson plans and utilizes instructional materials that result in high-quality learning experiences and maximize instructional time.

Monitors and assesses student learning on an ongoing basis and adjusts instructional methods to meet individual student needs.

Maintains accurate, complete, and timely records of student achievement and attendance in accordance with district and building procedures and policies.

Builds and maintains effective communication with students and parents/guardians to encourage family engagement and support student learning.

Implements and enforces school and district behavior expectations to promote a positive and effective learning environment.

Collaborates with colleagues, participates in faculty meetings, and engages in required professional development and district/building initiatives.

Selects and utilizes appropriate instructional materials, resources, and tools consistent with district curriculum requirements.

Engages in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices, instructional strategies, and developments in the educational field.
Qualifications

Bachelors or masters degree from an accredited college or university.

Missouri English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) K-12 certification.

Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Commitment to equity, diversity, and student success.

Spanish fluency preferred.
Additional Duties

Travel Requirements

Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

7.25 hours per day; 5 days per week
Work calendar:
189 days (2026-2027 calendar)
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary:
Commensurate with years of full-time teaching experience. Service credit is awarded on a year-by-year basis, with a maximum of 20 years recognized. (Certified Teacher Salary Schedule 2026-2027)
