Bilingual Bookkeeper & Tax Preparer

The Role: We're looking for a bilingual (Spanish/English) bookkeeper with tax preparation experience to join our team. You'll be responsible for managing client books, preparing tax returns, and serving as a trusted point of contact for our clients.
Core Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping:
- Maintain monthly books for assigned clients in QuickBooks Online
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
- Review transactions for accuracy and proper categorization
- Generate financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Communicate with clients to resolve discrepancies or gather missing information
Tax Preparation:
- Collect and organize client financial documents and tax information
- Prepare individual and business tax returns in ProConnect Tax
- Review returns for accuracy and completeness before filing
- E-file returns and handle extension requests
- Respond to client questions about their tax situations in English and Spanish
- Manage IRS and state correspondence when needed
Client Communication:
- Serve as primary contact for assigned Spanish-speaking clients
- Explain financial reports and tax returns in clear, understandable terms
- Follow up on outstanding items and keep projects moving forward
- Provide proactive updates on deadlines and deliverables
What We're Looking For:
Required:
- Fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal)
- Proven experience preparing tax returns (individual 1040s minimum)
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Reliable communication skills - you proactively update clients and team members
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
Preferred:
- Experience with business tax returns (1120, 1120-S, 1065)
- Previous bookkeeping experience for small businesses
- Familiarity with ProConnect Tax or similar tax software
- Understanding of basic tax planning concepts
