English Teacher

Üsküdar American Academy, founded in 1876, is one of the leading private schools in Turkey.

We offer the Turkish national curriculum, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), and limited Advanced Placement (AP) courses. The school is highly selective and prides itself on its world-class academic outcomes.

We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and inspiring "English Teacher" to join our team for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in English is required. An M.Ed. or Ph.D. in the subject to be taught is a plus.
• Valid university or government-issued teaching certification/licensure in the subject to be taught is required. (TESOL, TEFL, TESL, CELTA, or DELTA certificates are not accepted)
• Native-speaker (English)
• For education outside of Türkiye, all documents must be apostilled in the country of origin for a Turkish Work permit to be applied for and issued.
• A minimum 5 years of teaching experience in the field of certification, high school level is preferred.
• Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• A proven life-long learner.

Experience:

• Expertise in modern instructional methods, student-centered learning, curriculum development, differentiated instruction, and student assessment.
• Ability to deliver the English Department’s curriculum in a way that fosters student growth and academic potential.
• Proficiency in teaching English language arts, with a focus on reading, writing, literature, and public speaking.
• Skilled in integrating technology, ESL/EFL strategies, and evidence-based assessments into teaching.
• Experience in bilingual/multicultural settings.
• Prior overseas teaching experience.
• Experience in coordinating meaningful extra/co-curricular activities.
• Ability to integrate EdTech, blended learning, and Assessment for Learning.
• Experience of teaching the IB Diploma is a plus.
