The Role

You will teach:

• Key Stage 3 English
• iGCSE English (Language and/or Literature)
• A-Level English (Language and/or Literature)

All classes are delivered live online in groups of 4–8 students. Students may be mixed year groups but similar ability. This requires genuine differentiation by:

• Depth
• Complexity
• Independence—not by lowering standards.

Essential Requirements

• UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Proven experience teaching iGCSE and/or A-Level English
• Strong understanding of EdExcel and/or Cambridge specifications
• Demonstrable record of strong examination outcomes
• Experience teaching mixed-ability groups
• Confidence teaching live online (not pre-recorded delivery)
• Experience embedding interdisciplinary thinking within English
• Understanding of AI tools and how they impact writing education
• Experience contributing to curriculum design
• Experience mentoring students academically

What We Will Not Accept

• We will not proceed with candidates who:
• Rely primarily on PowerPoint slides.
• Cannot teach without scripted notes.
• Struggle to articulate subject knowledge clearly.
• Lack presence or authority in online delivery.
• Avoid accountability for student outcomes.
• View online teaching as temporary or secondary work.
