English Tutor

Job Title: English Tutor (Reading & Writing Support)

Location: Learning Center in Falls Church, VA

Schedule: Part-time, afternoon/evening hours (Monday–Thursday and Saturdays)

About Us We are a student-focused learning center dedicated to helping elementary through high school students strengthen their reading, writing, and vocabulary. Our tutors work closely with students in a supportive, structured environment that promotes confidence and academic growth.

Position Overview We are seeking a knowledgeable and engaging English tutor to support students in reading comprehension, writing development, grammar, and vocabulary. The ideal candidate can build students’ vocabulary through contextual learning, strengthen reading analysis skills, and guide students in developing clear, well-structured writing.

Responsibilities

• Provide small group tutoring in reading and writing
• Help students improve reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary
• Guide students through essay writing, organization, and editing
• Support students with school assignments and standardized test preparation (SAT/ACT, HSPT)
• Adapt instruction to different learning styles and grade levels
• Track student progress and communicate with the director as needed

Qualifications

• Strong background in English, Literature, or a related field
• Prior tutoring or teaching experience preferred
• Ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently
• Strong writing, grammar, and editing skills
• Comfortable working with elementary through high school students

Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour
