ENROLLED AGENT (EA) – TAX RESOLUTION SPECIALIST IN-PERSON POSITION ONLY – LOS ANGELES, CA RESUMES SUBMITTED FOR REMOTE WILL NOT BE OPENED!
Location: Los Angeles, CA Employment Type: FULL TIME / IN-PERSON
STOP BEFORE YOU APPLY This role requires hands-on, verifiable experience in tax resolution. If you have not personally worked IRS collection cases, negotiated with revenue officers, or managed a resolution caseload, do not apply. This is not an entry-level or tax preparation-only position.
Responsibilities
- Handle complex IRS and state tax resolution cases including Offers in Compromise (OIC), Installment Agreements (IA), Currently Not Collectible (CNC), Penalty Abatement, Innocent Spouse Relief, and Levy/Lien releases
- Analyze IRS transcripts (Wage & Income, Account, TXMODA) to assess client tax liability and history
- Review and interpret financial statements (433-A, 433-B) to determine appropriate resolution strategy
- Communicate directly with the IRS via phone, fax, and written correspondence — including handling Revenue Officer cases
- Draft and submit IRS correspondence, appeals, and resolution packages independently
- Manage an active caseload with minimal supervision and provide timely client updates
- Ensure full compliance with Circular 230, IRC statutes, and applicable state tax codes
Requirements
- Active Enrolled Agent (EA) license — non-negotiable
- Minimum 2–3 years of direct tax resolution experience (OIC, IA, CNC, Appeals — not just tax prep)
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret IRS transcripts and notices independently
- Working knowledge of IRS Collection Division processes, deadlines, and the Collections Due Process (CDP) framework
- Familiarity with IRS e-Services, CAF unit procedures, and POA/TIA authorization (Forms 2848 / 8821)
- Ability to independently strategize and execute resolution plans without hand-holding
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for client-facing and IRS-facing interactions
- Ability to manage 20+ active cases simultaneously with accuracy and professionalism
Preferred
- Experience using IRS Logics or similar tax resolution CRM platforms
- Prior experience at a dedicated tax resolution firm (not just a general CPA or bookkeeping office)
- Knowledge of state-level resolution programs (FTB, EDD, CDTFA in California a strong plus)
- Bilingual — Spanish-speaking strongly preferred
- Experience handling trust fund recovery penalty (TFRP) cases or payroll tax matters
Compensation
- Competitive base compensation + performance incentives
- Consistent, structured caseload — no cold prospecting required
- Established systems and case management infrastructure
- Direct mentorship from senior tax attorneys and compliance leadership
- Real growth potential within a fast-scaling tax resolution firm
