Part Time / Seasonal
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Groundskeeper is responsible for a variety of groundskeeping tasks for the residential; commercial; and vacant properties managed by DeMawating Development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)
CONTACTS:
Immediate peers, immediate supervisor/manager, tenants, contractors, general public, and customers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position medium with lifting of 50 pounds maximum and frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds. Physical factors include frequent standing, sitting, pushing/pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, manual handling and bending, walking, and riding a lawn mower over bumpy terrain, use of hearing, smell, near/midrange/far vision, depth perception, color/field vision; occasional climbing and crawling. Ability to stand, kneel, and bend over for 6-8 hours. Working conditions include constant exposure to weather, extreme heat, wet/humidity, noise, exposure to vibration and air quality. Potential hazards include equipment with moving mechanical parts and chemicals.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
Experience: Minimum of one year of lawn maintenance with experience using groundskeeping equipment required.
Certification/License: Must comply with the Sault Tribe’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy which may include random drug tests.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge of groundskeeping equipment required. Must be able to recognize safety hazards and be able to apply basic knowledge of safe work practices and safety equipment. Will follow instructions and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisory personnel, and coworkers is needed. Good interpersonal skills and ability to respond to customers and the general public in an effective and positive manner required. Must be able to handle and resolve customer complaints. Must be able to work independently and use good sound judgment. Native American preferred.
