Front of House Staff (Server & Barista) – Hay Jay Cafe | Bennington, NE

$10/hr + tips | Full-Time & Part-Time | 6am–2pm Window

Hay Jay Cafe is named for Hazel Jane — our owner's daughter, who passed on too soon. Every shift, every guest interaction, every cup we put on the counter is done in her honor. That's not a marketing line. It's why we exist.

We're looking for front of house staff who get that — people who show up with energy, take pride in genuine hospitality, and understand that how a guest feels when they leave matters just as much as what they ate.

THE ROLE

You'll work as a server, barista, or both depending on where you're needed. We're willing to train the right person on either — what we can't train is attitude, warmth, and hustle.

Shifts are available within our 6am–2pm window, full-time and part-time.

Day to day you'll:

- Welcome and serve guests with genuine hospitality

- Craft specialty coffee drinks to our standards

- Keep the front of house clean, organized, and running smoothly

- Communicate clearly with the kitchen team

- Represent the Hay Jay brand in every interaction

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- A warm, people-first personality — this is non-negotiable

- Experience in a cafe, restaurant, or customer-facing role preferred

- Willingness to learn barista or serving skills if you don't have both

- Someone who thrives in a fast-paced morning environment

- A team player who takes ownership without being asked
