Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Assist dentists during various procedures such as restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and professionalism.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology, including 3D scanners when necessary, while maintaining proper safety measures.
- Record detailed medical and dental histories, vital signs, and treatment notes accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Dentrix Ascend.
- Support infection control practices through aseptic techniques and proper handling of medical documentation to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort.
- Educate patients on oral health care instructions tailored to prosthdontic dentistry or general dentistry needs.
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and ensure all clinical tools are sterilized according to OSHA standards.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate eager to learn.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix Ascend is advantageous.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, infection control protocols, and medical coding enhances your ability to succeed in this role.
- Experience with X-ray procedures, digital imaging including 3D scanners, and chairside assisting techniques is highly valued.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
