Coffey Bros. Moving, Chicagoland's #1 household goods mover is now hiring an Entry Level Dispatch and Project Assistant Manager to assist in leading our Westchester Moving Teams in our peak season. This position is seasonal with the possibility of becoming a permanent role after peak season depending on service and market demand. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for assisting the manager in planning, dispatching, directing, and coordination of all move jobs, equipment, fleet activities and resources for assigned move projects. The ideal candidate must have completed a degree in business management, construction management or operations with some work experience in construction, transportation, landscaping or other skilled trades. Athletes this is for you too! The candidate must have had some previous experience and knowledge of how to drive <26,000lbs box truck.
This is not a Tech Position! Dispatch Project Assistant Managers are on the field or in the truck yard daily suppling trucks, staffing jobs and supporting our move teams and customers with what ever is needed to complete daily jobs and achieve customer satisfaction. You must be physically able to lift and carry 75lbs or more for long hours, up/down stairs, and on/off a truck.
Dispatch Project Assistant Managers are also responsible for Managing Daily Moving jobs, Maximizing Revenue, Quality Control, and Loss Prevention. Get your foot in the door and gain real management experience!
You will learn these Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage daily scheduled projects including assigning personnel, equipment, and materials.
- Maintaining Quality Control Audits and Loss Prevention through active management of every aspect of the Dispatch Operations Department.
- Management of Equipment including fleet and moving equipment; including damage and repair logs.
- Record Keeping of projects including attendance and employee performance.
- Distributing daily assignments and dispatching crews timely.
- Management of Supplies for daily assignments; inventory equipment, tools and supplies; order and stock supplies.
- Manage and maintain truck fleet to ensure they comply with USDOT and ILCC regulations; conduct daily check-in / check-out, and restocking.
- Maintain and Manage fleet repair logs.
- Manage GPS fleet tracker to ensure jobs are running on schedule, screen trips for driver misconduct and keep customers informed with any delays.
- Work well with others and assist movers on jobs at times of short staffing.
- Provide ongoing leadership and coaching regarding document training, service quality, reliability, productivity, and accountability.
- Assist Dispatch Operations Manager in handling disciplinary concerns and taking corrective action.
- Must be available to work early mornings and weekends.
Qualification & Previous Experience:
- Must currently live in Illinois, USA to qualify for this role
- Positive attitude towards learning and developing new skills.
- Must enjoy physical activity spent indoor/outdoor and able to lift 75+ pounds repeatedly.
- Must be able to drive up to a 26ft Box Delivery Truck to and from jobs or to and from service station
- A team player! Able to get on a truck and move with their team when duty calls!
- Great written and verbal communication skills.
- Great communication skills, able to handle complaints and negotiations tactics.
- Good computer skills: google drive apps.

- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Some work experience in construction, landscaping or some other trade.
