Entry-Level Electronics Test Engineer

Company Overview
Odyssey Technical Solutions operates a cutting-edge technology center spanning over 22,000 square feet, located in Round Rock, TX. Our team comprises highly skilled engineers dedicated to advancing RF generators, power supplies, and microwave equipment. We pride ourselves on delivering rapid turnaround times and exceptional customer satisfaction across diverse industries including semiconductor, solar, medical, and industrial coatings.

Job Summary

The Test Engineer designs, develops, implements, and maintains automated test equipment (ATE) and test procedures used to validate the repair, refurbishment, and calibration of industrial RF generators, microwave power supplies, DC power supplies, and matching networks. This role bridges the gap between engineering designs and production floor repairs, focusing on automating data collection, improving diagnostic accuracy, and optimizing testing workflows for repair technicians to ensure maximum throughput and OEM-level quality control.

Reporting & Collaboration

  • Reports To: Engineering Manager / Operations Manager
  • Collaborates Closely With: Electrical Engineers, Repair Technicians, and Assemblers

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Automate Test Systems: Design, build, and program Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and software scripts (using LabVIEW, Python, or related software) to streamline testing for semiconductor repair components.
  • Develop Test Procedures: Author clear, standardized testing documentation, test plans, and calibration procedures for repair technicians and assemblers to follow on the production floor.
  • Support the Repair Floor: Serve as the technical escalation point when technicians encounter complex diagnostic issues or anomalous test equipment failures.
  • Data & Analytics Integration: Maintain and improve data acquisition capabilities to eliminate manual data entry, catch micro-fluctuations in power output, and track "As-Found/As-Left" diagnostic data.
  • Fixture Design: Design physical test fixtures, load banks, and cabling interfaces required to safely interface customer units with factory test benches.
  • Equipment Calibration & Maintenance: Ensure all test bench instruments—including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and digital voltmeters—are calibrated, functional, and safe.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred (or equivalent specialized military/industry experience).
  • RF/Microwave Knowledge: Strong fundamental understanding of radio frequency (RF) principles, impedance matching networks, high-voltage DC power supplies, and microwave systems.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in test automation software such as LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, or C/C++.
  • Bench Hardware Expertise: Deep familiarity with industrial test hardware, including spectrum analyzers, RF power meters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and dummy loads.
  • Certifications (Preferred): IPC-A-610 or IPC-7711/7721 soldering and rework standards.
