What Is Tech Builder?
We’ll pay you during training ($18/hr with a raise when you graduate). After all, we want you to focus on learning and becoming the best tech possible, not worrying about how you’ll pay your bills.
Training is at our state-of-the-art training facility in Charlotte, NC. On training days, we’ll include breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You’ll also have the choice between either a free hotel room for training days OR mileage reimbursement to and from training.
Our Tech Builder trainees come from all kinds of backgrounds—retail workers, servers, massage therapists, students, insurance adjusters… you name it! Your past doesn’t have to dictate what you become in your future.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the person is frequently required to move about within customers’ homes inside tight crawlspaces and ascend/descend ladders lifting one’s own bodyweight through narrow entrances into attics. Must be able to identify and inspect equipment, parts, and colored wiring to safely test, repair, and install electrical connections with precise hand-eye motor skills.

What Is Tech Builder?
It’s our HVAC technician training program! And it’s not just training—when you pass the class, we’ll hire you full-time as an official Morris-Jenkins HVAC technician at our Greenville location.
Our next class starts on May 18th, 2026!

Your Role:
During training, you’ll:
- Learn from some of the top trainers around in a classroom setting
- Practice your new skills in our state-of-the-art HVAC training lab
- Train with experienced technicians on actual service calls
- Test your skills and knowledge as you go
Once you graduate class, you’ll:
- Become a full-time HVAC Maintenance Technician!
- Inspect HVAC systems to make sure they’re safe and running right
- Diagnose HVAC problems to help keep families comfortable and safe
- Continue to learn and grow as a technician (we have lots of opportunities for you to advance!)

This is the stuff HR needs you to know:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
- Basic mechanical or electrical skills
- A friendly personality and helpful, positive attitude to provide a top-notch customer experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must pass an extensive criminal background check
- Must have an insurable driving record & valid driver license with at least 3 years of driving history
- Able to meet Physical Demands and tolerate Work Environment ***See Below***
- Must be able to fluently speak, read, & write in the English language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior work experience in customer service or sales
- HVAC-related certifications or education

Mental Demands: Must be able to perceive and distinguish emotions, as well as deal with adversarial confrontations. Requires an ability to concentrate and prioritize multiple tasks at once. Conscious attention to detail is required to safely perform tasks.
Work Environment: Frequently requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and other hazards such as electrical shock, toxic fumes, caustic chemicals, UV light, sharp objects, venomous animals, etc., which may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness. This job requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as directed by company policy.
