We’re looking for a Junior Buyer who is eager to gain hands-on experience in purchasing and supply chain within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This entry-level position is ideal for current college students or recent graduates pursuing a degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. You will work side by side with experienced professionals, learning the fundamentals of procurement, order management, vendor relations, and data analysis. ATMI is committed to developing talent from within, and this role offers a clear career path toward Purchasing Assistant and Purchasing Coordinator positions.

Summary

The Junior Buyer supports the purchasing department in managing daily procurement operations, maintaining supplier communication, and ensuring timely processing of materials and supplies. This role provides hands-on exposure to all aspects of purchasing, from order entry and vendor communication to tracking deliveries and assisting with reporting. Strong Excel skills and attention to detail are essential to success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Order Management: Prepare and process purchase orders, communicate with vendors to confirm order details, verify pricing, and resolve discrepancies
  • Inventory and Deliveries: Collaborate with inventory supervisors to process and track order receipts, manage delivery schedules, and maintain optimal stock levels
  • Process Receipts: Log incoming shipments promptly so the accounts payable team can process invoices and issue payments on time
  • Vendor and Supplier Relations: Support the purchasing team in maintaining positive relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • Data and Reporting: Assist in preparing reports on purchases, returns, and related costs using Excel and internal systems
  • Administrative Support: Fulfill requests for office supplies and perform general administrative tasks to support the purchasing department
Requirements:
  • Current student or recent graduate with coursework in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to learn about the procurement process
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
