Entry Level Laboratory Technician

Job Description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Identification of different asbestos types, non-asbestos fibers, and particulates using a Polarized Light Microscope.
• Maintaining the QA/QC Program and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Report results, within turn around times requested, using spreadsheets required.
• May be required to cross train in other laboratories to meet other accredited laboratory demands.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in the Field of Science -Geology, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Environmental Science preferred.
• Knowledge in Optical Mineralogy.
• Must have minimum of 1 to 2 years’ experience in laboratory setting.
• Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis.
• Must be able to work with Phase Contrast and Polarized Light Microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and must be able to adhere to sterile technique and good lab practices, with previous microscope experience a definite plus.
• Previous microscope experience a definite plus.
• Good communication skills (will have some client interaction).
• Good computers skill both in typing and MS Office.
• Must be able to work efficiently to meet firm deadlines

Availability/Shift: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, but some overtime may be required
