Entry Level Laboratory Technician- Toxicology/Molecular

As we expand, we seek an entry level Laboratory Technician ensuring efficient operations, regulatory compliance, and excellent service delivery.

Position Overview:
The Laboratory Technician will run day-to-day laboratory operations in our toxicology and molecular laboratory with oversight by the Laboratory Manager. This role is integral to maintaining quality standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory techniques, quality control, and time management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations in toxicology and molecular testing, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant testing procedures.
  • Toxicology responsibilities include immunoassay drug screening and LCMS urine drug confirmation sample preparation.
  • Molecular responsibilities include sample preparation for infectious disease testing.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., CLIA, COLA, CAP), including documentation, inspections, and proficiency testing.
  • Maintain and optimize lab workflows for efficiency and accuracy, implementing process improvements as needed.
  • Adhere to the lab’s quality assurance and quality control programs, and SOP's.
  • Manage laboratory inventory and procurement to meet operational needs.
  • Support new assay validation, test development, and troubleshooting for both toxicology methods and molecular assays.
  • Engage with clients and other stakeholders, providing excellent customer service and addressing inquiries as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, Forensic Science or a related field.
  • CLIA regulations for high-complexity testing personnel require at least an associate degree in laboratory science (or chemical/biological science) with at least 60 semester hours of education, including 24 semester hours of science courses. These 24 hours must include 6 hours of chemistry, 6 hours of biology, and 12 hours of combined chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology.
  • Strong knowledge of toxicology and PCR methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in laboratory information systems (LIS) and general office software.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Abilities required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long period of times, walk, occasionally sit, have good hand dexterity, talk and hear.

Bending, stooping, sitting, lifting 25 lbs.

Physical Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. May include short periods of time in cold storage 4-6oC. The noise level in this work environment is moderate.

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
