Job Description

As an Entry-Level Fleet Mechanic, you will report directly to the Fleet Manager and assist with the servicing and maintenance of our fleet of trucks and trailers. You’ll receive hands-on training, work alongside experienced mechanics, and gain exposure to real-world diagnostic and repair processes. This position offers the opportunity to grow your technical abilities in a supportive environment with dealership-level resources and mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with diagnostic tests on vehicles to identify and resolve malfunctions.
  • Support repairs to suspension systems, pump equipment, electrical wiring, steering mechanisms, and braking systems.
  • Perform basic maintenance services and inspections under supervision.
  • Travel to outlying sites as needed to assist with vehicle service and repairs.
  • Conduct daily visual inspections of vehicles and report any issues.
  • Log maintenance activities in the fleet tracking system.
  • Help maintain shop tools, equipment, and spare part inventory.
  • Communicate vehicle status and repair updates with the operations team.
  • Follow established safety and inspection procedures, including 90-day DOT inspections.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Education and Preferred Experience

  • Recent graduate or student in an automotive or diesel technology program, or equivalent training.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle systems, maintenance, and safety procedures.
  • Understanding of CHP and DOT compliance is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to learn from experienced technicians.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 150 pounds.
  • Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • In-person at 1346 E Taylor St, San Jose, CA 95133
  • Some travel to nearby sites as needed
  • Occasional weekends or overtime available

Pay

  • Starting Pay: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour
