Position Description: Entry-Level Mechanic – Full-Time

Northwest Propane is seeking a dependable, motivated Entry-Level Mechanic to join our team at our 12-bay maintenance facility in Carrollton, Texas. This is a full-time position working on our company-owned fleet of vehicles and equipment.

This role is ideal for someone who recently completed a trade school program or has 1–2 years of hands-on mechanical experience and wants to continue developing their skills. You will work alongside experienced mechanics and our Shop Manager, receiving training and guidance while gaining experience on a wide variety of equipment.

Our fleet includes pickup trucks, medium-duty service trucks, propane bobtails, tractor-trailers, light-duty crane trucks, and other specialized equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and preventative maintenance on company vehicles and equipment
  • Assist senior mechanics with repairs and diagnostics
  • Complete inspections, oil changes, tire work, brake repairs, and other basic mechanical tasks
  • Learn to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Accurately document maintenance and repair work performed
  • Follow company safety procedures and shop policies
  • Communicate effectively with the Shop Manager and other team members

Qualifications

  • Trade school, vocational training, or 1–2 years of mechanical experience preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair procedures
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a shop environment
  • Own basic hand tools (specialty tools provided by the company)

Preferred but Not Required

  • Diesel, fleet, agricultural, or heavy equipment experience
  • CDL license
  • DOT inspection certification
  • Experience with hydraulic or electrical systems
