- Estimation: Learn to perform project "take-offs" from blueprints and calculate labor/material costs.
- Purchasing: Negotiate with supply houses and manage inventory levels to ensure field teams have what they need.
- Communication: Act as the bridge between the office, field crews, and vendors.
- Ideal Qualifications (Entry-Level):
- Must-Haves: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, strong math skills, and a "mechanical mind" (ability to visualize how systems fit together).
- Nice-to-Haves: Prior field experience as a plumber's helper or apprentice is a massive plus.
- Education: High school diploma or GED; a degree in Construction Management or Finance is helpful but not always required for entry-level.
