Kiesland Design-Build, a 40 + year-old, Cincinnati-based Commercial Construction firm, is seeking an experienced Project Engineer & Special Project Support Specialist to join our dynamic team.
We are looking for a highly motivated, energetic, driven, and optimistic professional who is seeking to grow with a company that values teamwork, performance, and long-term development. This role will be a dynamic role that will take you all over the city on a daily basis, for meetings, to job-sites visits and leading job-site operations for a VIP-client. You will report to the Director of Business & Strategy and support him with high-profile projects, sit-in client meetings, help with scheduling and calendar coordinating, and attend networking events periodically.
This is not a typical 9am to 5pm role. We are looking for someone who has construction experience, preferably a Construction Management degree who sees themselves growing with our firm. This individual will gain comprehensive exposure to all aspects of the construction industry, including both field operations and business management. Through hands-on experience and mentorship, we will develop this person into a Project Manager within our organization.

Entry-Level Project Coordinator & Special Project Support Specialist
Position Summary
Kiesland is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Project Coordinator & Special Projects Support Specialist to join our growing team. This role serves as a critical link between project operations, administrative functions, and client communications, helping ensure projects are executed efficiently and successfully from start to finish. The ideal candidate will support project teams, assist with special initiatives, maintain strong client relationships, and contribute to the overall success of our projects and organization. Prior construction industry experience is preferred, along with a strong desire to learn, grow, and build a long-term career in construction management.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Director of Business & Strategy with putting projects together
- Bidding and Estimating
- Organizing Bid Walk-Throughs
- Assembling Bids, Scopes of Work and Construction Schedules
- Assist with scheduling of meetings for leadership team in the office
- Attend meeting with existing, new and perspective clients with the firm’s Principal and the Director of Business & Strategy.
- Coordinate activities between owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Facilitate communication among project stakeholders.
- Attend and document project meetings
- Manage project drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Process Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Review and track submittals and shop drawings.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
- Assist in developing and updating project schedules.
- Monitor project progress against milestones.
- Identify potential delays and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate material deliveries and workforce requirements.
- Track project budgets and expenditures.
- Assist with change orders and cost estimates.
- Review subcontractor invoices and payment applications.
- Monitor construction activities for compliance with plans and specifications.
- Participate in inspections and quality assurance processes.
- Document deficiencies and track corrective actions.
- Ensure work meets company and client standards.
- Support implementation of site safety programs.
- Assist with bid solicitation and evaluation.
- Coordinate procurement of materials and equipment.
- Track subcontractor performance and contract compliance.
- Resolve field issues related to materials and installations.
- Review construction drawings and identify conflicts.
- Assist with layout verification and field measurements.
- Coordinate design clarifications with engineers and architects.
- Support commissioning and project closeout activities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and construction industry documentation requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Construction Project Engineering experience.
- Bachelors of Science in Construction Management or equivalent program/experience (Preferred).
- Knowledge of construction, budgeting, estimating, bid preparation, AIA documentation, scheduling of trades, order and process of inspections, construction contracts, and construction payment processes.
- Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail & problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Projects, Outlook for emails and Teams for meetings.
- Proficient in construction software, Kiesland utilizes Procore. Understanding Procore is a plus.
- Extremely strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be outgoing and bring value to projects and meetings.
- An entrepreneurial mind-set is a plus.
Schedule
- Full-time, Monday through Friday
- There will occasionally be times, based on a client’s needs, where you may need to be onsite over a weekend.
- This is not a work from home position, however, there will be multiple days a week you may be off-site, working remote at project locations.
