1-Respond to emergency and non-emergency occurrences; offer necessary services as required, including emergency rescue and fire suppression; conduct search and rescue for trapped or injured people; Provide emergency medical and first-aid assistance as needed. Prepare reports on emergency incidents as assigned.

Position Overview

The Environment Specialist is responsible for monitoring, managing, and improving environmental performance across airport operations or aviation facilities. The role ensures compliance with national and international environmental regulations (such as ICAO Annex 16 and GACA standards), supports sustainability initiatives, and reduces environmental risks associated with aviation activities.

Key Responsibilities.

. Environmental Compliance & Regulations

• Ensure full compliance with ICAO environmental standards , GACA regulations , and local environmental laws.
• Monitor environmental permits, licenses, and regulatory updates.
• Prepare documentation and reports required by authorities (e.g., emissions, waste, noise reports).

2. Environmental Monitoring & Assessment

• Monitor air quality , noise levels , water quality , and waste management around airport or aviation facilities.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIA) for new projects or operational changes.
• Follow up on corrective measures and ensure closure of environmental findings.

3. Sustainability & Airport Environmental Programs

• Support implementation of environmental programs such as:
• Carbon reduction initiatives
• Energy efficiency programs
• Waste minimization and recycling
• Water conservation
• Work with internal teams to achieve environmental objectives (e.g., ACI Airport Carbon Accreditation).

4. Audits & Inspections

• Conduct internal environmental audits according to ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
• Coordinate with external auditors and government inspectors.
• Identify non-conformities and track corrective and preventive actions.

5. Emergency & Hazardous Material Management

• Oversee handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials according to safety standards.
• Support spill response plans and environmental emergency procedures.
• Ensure proper training for staff on environmental risks.

6. Reporting & Data Management

• Prepare environmental performance KPIs, dashboards, and monthly reports.
• Analyze trends and recommend improvements to reduce environmental footprint.
• Maintain all environmental logs, records, and compliance documentation.

7. Stakeholder Engagement

• Coordinate with airlines, airport operations, maintenance teams, and contractors to ensure environmental compliance.
• Conduct awareness campaigns and training sessions for employees.
• Represent the department in environmental meetings and workshops.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science , Environmental Engineering , Sustainability , or related field.
• Preferred: Master’s degree or relevant certifications (ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, NEBOSH, IEMA, etc.)

Experience

• 3–5 years of experience in environmental management, preferably in:
• Aviation industry
• Industrial facilities
• Environmental consulting
• Experience with aviation-specific environmental standards is a strong advantage.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of ICAO Annex 16 , GACA regulations , and ISO standards.
• Ability to conduct audits, inspections, and environmental assessments.
• Data analysis and report writing skills.
• Strong communication skills with ability to engage multiple stakeholders.
• High attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
