PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME JOB OPPORTUNITY - GRAPHIC DESIGNER/ MARKETING SPECIALIST AT RETAIL INTERIOR DESIGN FIRM

JOB TITLE: Environmental Designer/Illustrator

POSITION TYPE: Part-time (18-30 hours/ week) or Full-Time (40 hours/week)

KMDesign Company, LLC. is a growing retail design firm specializing in the gourmet and natural foods markets. Based in Playa Vista,

California, KMDco. serves the entire US with active projects throughout California, Washington and the Midwest. We do it all...interior re-

tail design, graphic, decor and millwork design, and coordination of fabrication and installation. We believe strongly in building lasting

relationships with our clients by taking their projects from initial design ideation through to completion to ensure our clients’ complete

satisfaction. Our primary focus for each project is to take our clients along on the design journey to ensure our vision and theirs is one

in the same. Through the use of 3D renderings we’re able to walk our clients through a realistic perspective of their project prior to the

fabrication phase of development.

SUMMARY

There is an opening for a part-time (18-30 hours/ week) or full-time (40 hours/ week) Marketing Specialist/Graphic Designer.

We are a small firm, which requires each team member, regardless of position, to wear many hats in a given day. The primary responsibility of

the Marketing Specialist/Graphic Designer is to work under the direction of the Design Director and/or Lead Designer(s) to understand

scope of work, project goals (including client budgetary goals), design objectives and design style. Designers at KMDco. are encour-

aged to grow and develop beyond their current position as much as desired to find their role in the company that allows them to fully

shine.

Daily duties will include, but are not limited to:

- Working with Lead Designer and/or Project Manager to review current project time lines, priorities and upcoming design deliverables

to ensure all tasks stay on schedule

- Creating original graphics and utilizing stock photo sites to create signage with marketing messaging recommendations to our Clients

- Tag teaming new signage and decor concepts with interior designers

- Compiling designs into InDesign presentations for client approvals and ultimately to act as initial shop details for fabricators

- Creating virtual project mood boards in InDesign

- Sourcing asssistant: materials, furniture, hardware, accessories, etc.

- Attending meetings with material reps, going to trade shows, researching new design trends

- Attending site walks periodically (virtually and/or in-person. Out-of-town travel is optional but not mandatory.)

- Running errands (ex: dropping off/picking up samples, sourcing hardware from local stores, shipping at post office, etc.)

- Building/maintaining internal branding/marketing materials for KMDco. (including web site, business cards, brochures, etc.)

- Ideal candidate would have some experience using Google 3D SketchUp or atleast interest in learning this program.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Seeking a high-energy multi-tasker who is an extremely detail-oriented self-starter and a solution based thinker. Someone who is confi-

dent in his/her design sense, yet willing to stray from their personal design style to meet the client’s needs in order to best interpret the

brand identity of each client - free of any personal agenda or vision.

REQUIRED PROGRAM KNOWLEDGE

• Proficiency in the following programs is required:
• Adobe InDesign
• Adobe Illustrator
• Adobe Photoshop
• Microsoft Word & Excel
• Web Design and Maintenance (Web Based web site development like Wix is acceptable)
• Proficiency in the following is preferred but not required:
• Google SketchUp
• CAD
• Photography

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Prefer candidates with a degree/certificate in a design related field of study (Architecture, Environmental Design, Graphic Design, etc.)

but will consider candidates without these qualifications who show strong design sense.

COMPENSATION

Starting compensation for first 90-Days is $28/hour to $32/hour depending on experience.

Compensation will be re-assessed after 90-Day Probationary Period with a formal offer letter if KMDco. feels you are a good fit for the

Designer position. The probationary period is for the new hire to decide if KMDco. is the right fit for you as much as it is for us to determine if

you’re the right candidate for the given position at KMDco.
