Environmental Engineer

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, project environmental management plans, and sustainability requirements during all phases of construction activities. The role involves monitoring environmental performance, implementing control measures, conducting inspections, and supporting the project team in maintaining environmental standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with UAE environmental regulations and project environmental requirements.
• Monitor site activities to ensure proper environmental practices are followed.
• Conduct regular environmental inspections and site audits.
• Monitor waste management, dust control, noise control, and pollution prevention measures.
• Prepare environmental reports, records, and related documentation.
• Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, and site teams on environmental matters.
• Report environmental issues and follow up on corrective actions.
• Conduct environmental awareness sessions and toolbox talks for workers and staff.
• Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
• Support the implementation of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
• Assist during environmental authority inspections and client audits.
• Prepare and review Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Environmental & Construction Management Plan (ECMP), and Operational Management Plan (OMP).
• Prepare COHSS Assessments and ensure compliance with project HSE requirements.
• Coordinate with project teams to improve environmental performance and sustainability initiatives on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction projects, preferably airport or infrastructure projects in UAE/GCC.
• Good knowledge of environmental regulations and environmental management practices.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Knowledge of ESG or Sustainability is preferred or added advantage

Preferred Certifications

• ISO 14001 certification.
• NEBOSH Environmental Certificate or equivalent is an advantage.
