Environmental Engineer (Groundwater Treatment)

Position Overview
KEY Environmental, Inc. is seeking a motivated Environmental Engineer with 3+ years of experience in groundwater treatment and remediation to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing, operating, and optimizing groundwater treatment systems and a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and field implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, evaluate, and optimize groundwater treatment systems (e.g., pump-and-treat, air stripping, GAC, chemical oxidation, biological treatment).
  • Develop and direct groundwater treatment testing, including bench scale and pilot scale studies.
  • Prepare technical reports, work plans, and regulatory submissions.
  • Oversee system installation, startup, and operation & maintenance (O&M).
  • Provide QA/QC oversight for work completed by contractors and technical staff.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, laboratories, and regulatory agencies.
  • Support cost estimating, proposal development, and client communications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in groundwater treatment and remediation.
  • Understanding of groundwater flow, contaminant transport, and treatment technologies.
  • Experience with environmental regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, state programs).
  • Strong data analysis and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Experience with treatment system design software or geochemical modeling tools (e.g., PhreeqC, isotherm calculations, Shiny-GAC, IEX, PAC)
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Experience with emerging contaminants (e.g., PFAS) is a plus.

Work Environment

  • Flexible, hybrid office schedule with occasional field work.
  • Field activities may include outdoor work in variable weather conditions and industrial environments.
  • Periodic travel to client sites, including occasional overnight stays.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
