About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Environmental Hydrogeologist / Modeller to execute a Stage 2 Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) for a former aluminium smelter site. The project involves groundwater characterization, contaminant transport modelling, and remediation planning using QGIS, ModelMuse (MODFLOW/MT3D), and analytical data interpretation.
This role is ideal for professionals skilled in hydrogeology, contaminant transport, and environmental modelling who can independently deliver project-ready results.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop hydrostratigraphic models using QGIS and ModelMuse.
- Perform Bouwer–Rice analysis on slug/recovery tests to calculate hydraulic conductivity (K).
- Interpret CPT data and cross-check soil behaviour with analytical K values.
- Compute retardation (R) and partition coefficients (Kd) for PFOS, fluoride, and chloride.
- Build and run MODFLOW/MT3D models for contaminant plume transport (Cl, PFOS, F⁻).
- Simulate reactive transport and PRB remediation scenarios using GAC.
- Prepare a professional ESA report summarizing modelling results, site characterization, and remediation recommendations.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in QGIS, ModelMuse (MODFLOW + MT3D), and MS Excel.
- Strong background in hydrogeology, groundwater flow, and contaminant transport modelling.
- Understanding of PFAS and inorganic contaminant behaviour.
- Analytical skills for Bouwer–Rice and column test data interpretation.
- Report writing skills for Stage 2 ESA documentation and stakeholder communication.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Environmental Engineering, Hydrogeology, or Environmental Science.
- 3–7 years of experience in contaminated site assessment or remediation.
- Prior experience with MODFLOW/MT3D modelling (essential).
What We Offer
- Remote / contract-based flexibility.
