Established in 2009, GMCO has developed a discovery-led approach to mineral exploration and mine development. Since its inception, the company has achieved significant success, including two major discoveries at Jabal Qutman (Gold) and Wadi Bidah (Copper-Gold VMS), both of which are currently progressing through feasibility assessment. In addition, GMCO has made several smaller discoveries across its broader licence portfolio. GMCO operates one of the largest exploration land packages in Saudi Arabia, with access to more than 2,200 km of ground across 29 exploration licences. Role

We are seeking a committed and detail-oriented Environmental Officer to support our mining operations by ensuring full environmental compliance and promoting sustainable, responsible mining practices.

In this role, you will be responsible for assessing, monitoring, and mitigating environmental impacts associated with mining activities. You will play a key role in protecting biodiversity, ensuring regulatory compliance, and integrating environmental best practices into operational processes. You will collaborate closely with geologists, engineers, and operational teams to support sustainable site development and rehabilitation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor, assess, and report environmental impacts of mining operations
  • Ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and company standards
  • Support and participate in Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)
  • Conduct biodiversity monitoring (flora and fauna surveys)
  • Oversee land rehabilitation and environmental restoration programs
  • Manage waste and promote sustainable environmental practices on site
  • Prepare accurate environmental reports and documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement environmental controls and improvements
Candidate Profile

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related field

Experience

1-5 years of experience in environmental management

Skills & Competencies
  • Experience in mining or heavy industry is highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability principles
  • Experience in Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)
  • Knowledge of biodiversity monitoring and ecosystem management
  • Familiarity with land rehabilitation and environmental mitigation practices
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and documentation skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to work independently in field-based and operational environments
