Location: Simpson General Hospital | Mendenhall, MS

Schedule: Varies | As Needed | Weekends Required

Position Summary

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and infection prevention standards across the hospital. This includes daily cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, restrooms, offices, and public areas. You'll use approved cleaning products and procedures to help create a sanitary and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize patient rooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and public areas
  • Dispose of trash and hazardous waste following proper procedures
  • Follow safety guidelines and infection control protocols
  • Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and effectively
  • Complete daily tasks on schedule with minimal supervision
  • Attend ongoing training and in-service education
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding patients and hospital operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Environmental Services

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
  • At least 1 year of experience in environmental services, housekeeping, or custodial work (Preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lift 2550 lbs, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility with schedule
  • Basic computer skills and a professional, respectful demeanor

Physical Demands

This position requires physical stamina and the ability to move freely throughout the facility. Duties include standing for long periods, lifting, bending, and operating cleaning equipment. Visual and auditory acuity is needed to identify safety risks and respond appropriately.
