Environmental Services Technician (As Needed, Shift Pick Up) – NE & SE DC

Position Overview

We are seeking reliable, professional Environmental Services Technicians to join our as‑needed staffing pool supporting cleaning and sanitation needs in a 24/7 residential facility. The role involves active work that requires regular movement throughout the facility.

This position is safety‑sensitive, located within a government building, and requires successful completion of an FBI fingerprint‑based background check, a police background check, and drug and alcohol screening.

Pay: $23.50 per hour

Various Locations:

Southeast, DC (20032, 20003)

Northeast, DC (20002, 20018)

Schedule: As‑Needed

Shift Windows

• Day: Between 6:00am–5:00pm
• Evening: Between 2:00pm–11:00pm
• Overnight: Between 10:30pm-8am

Shifts are offered based on operational needs. Voluntary. Shifts may be available in advance or on short notice, and hours are not guaranteed.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional attitude, communication style, and appearance
• Clean, sanitize, and disinfect administrative areas, dormitories, dining areas, common spaces, lobbies, hallways, elevators, laundry spaces, and outdoor areas.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms and shower rooms; restock supplies
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors, stairs, dust vents and other assigned surfaces.
• Clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors
• Remove trash and properly dispose of waste
• Respond to cleaning requests or situations that arise during the shift
• Follow safety procedures when handling bodily fluids or unsanitary conditions
• Perform other duties as assigned

Experience

• Preferred: 2–3 years of commercial cleaning or custodial experience

Required Qualifications

Physical & Environmental Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs
• Ability to open and close wide trash compactor doors and move wheeled trash carts
• Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and following safety instructions
• Work may involve routine exposure to dust, odors, cleaning products, and occasional contact with soiled areas or pests
• Work may occur indoors and outdoors in varying conditions and may involve occasional health‑related risks associated with a residential facility
