Environmental Technician— Valdosta, GA

TTL is seeking an Environmental Technician to join our team in Valdosta, GA. In this position, you will play a vital role supporting environmental compliance for both private and public sectors. Typical duties include taking samples and performing tests, while also adhering to all health and safety guidelines. This position will require traveling to job sites, and the distance can vary depending on the project.

Description

  • Performs routine field environmental sampling of groundwater, storm water, soil, etc.
  • Conduct wetland and stream delineation with Professional Wetland Scientist.
  • Monitors, observes, samples, and records field environmental conditions.
  • Performs maintenance on remediation systems.
  • Follow proper procedures, perform accurate computations, and maintain cordial relationships with coworkers, clients, contractors, etc.
  • Prepare daily reports and data sheets. Operates with close to moderate supervision.
  • Typical activities include, but are not limited to: map reading, maintain chain-of-custody forms, utilize equipment to measure field parameters, environmental site inspections, and field inspections for drilling access and general utility clearance.
  • 90% Fieldwork – 10% Office


Requirements:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. College coursework or degree preferred. Emphasis in physical sciences and/or math.
  • 1-3 years of previous experience as an Environmental Technician OR recent college graduate a plus.
  • Ability to communicate professionally orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel overnight, extended on occasion.
  • Good driving record
  • Physical Fitness: perform heavy lifting up to 50+ lbs; possess sufficient stamina to work in outdoor (hot & cold) environment; be certified to wear a respirator
  • Possess mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and repair equipment and remediation systems
  • Preferred: OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
